Katy, TX & Greater Houston

Our Painting Warranty

Every Paint Texas painting and drywall project carries a 1-year workmanship warranty. Here is exactly what it covers, what it does not, and how to use it.

The Warranty in Short

  • What you get: a 1-year workmanship warranty on every painting and drywall project.
  • When it starts: the day your project is completed.
  • What it applies to: interior and exterior, residential and commercial.
  • The one condition: we use Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint or a higher line.
  • How to claim: call, text, email, or use the form on this site.

That is the whole warranty. The rest of this page explains what sits behind it.

What the 1-Year Workmanship Warranty Covers

Two things fail on a paint job. Either the materials give out, or the way we put them on gives out. Our warranty covers both.

Material failure means the product itself did not hold. Paint that blisters on a properly prepped wall is one example. Caulk that splits in the first season is another. Joint compound that cracks along a taped seam counts too.

Application failure means our crew got something wrong. Maybe the prep was not thorough enough. Maybe a surface was not dry, or not clean, or not primed where it needed to be. Maybe we painted a surface we should have waited on.

Either way, you call us and we come look at it. There is no deductible and no service fee.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

We would rather be plain about this now than argue about it later.

  • Moisture from another source. A roof leak, a failed window seal or a slab issue will ruin paint. The paint is the symptom.
  • Normal wear. Scuffs, nail holes, furniture marks and hallway traffic are living in your house, not a defect.
  • Outside damage. Other trades, storms, impact, or anything you change after we leave.
  • Paint you supplied. We cannot warrant a product we did not choose and did not buy.
  • A new owner. The warranty does not transfer if you sell the property. It belongs to the person we did the work for.

Your Paint Carries a Second Warranty, and It Excludes Labor

This is the part most homeowners never read.

Sherwin-Williams warrants its own products directly. The SuperPaint exterior warranty runs for the lifetime of the original purchaser. It covers peeling and blistering when the paint was applied correctly to a properly prepared surface.

Here is the catch. That warranty explicitly excludes labor. If the product fails, Sherwin-Williams replaces the paint or refunds what it cost. Somebody still has to prep and repaint the wall, and that somebody is not the paint company. Their warranty is also non-transferable, same as ours.

So the two warranties do different jobs. Sherwin-Williams stands behind the can. We stand behind the work. In your first year, we handle the whole repair, labor included. After that, a real product failure is still a claim against Sherwin-Williams. We will help you file it.

Approved Materials Are a Condition, Not Fine Print

We warrant Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint and above. That includes Duration and Emerald.

If you choose a paint below that line, there is no workmanship warranty on that surface. That is not us being difficult. Katy summers push the UV index to extreme levels, and our humidity swings hard. A budget coating fails here in a way it would not fail in a milder climate. We are not willing to guarantee an outcome the product cannot deliver.

Some of it is not your choice at all.

  • Trim and cabinetry always get Emerald.
  • Bathrooms and high-humidity kitchens get Duration, which is formulated for those conditions.
  • Walls and general exterior body start at SuperPaint. Upgrading is up to you.

Your written scope names the product line for every surface before work starts. Nothing about the warranty should be a surprise on the last day.

How a Claim Works

Call or text (713) 997-3687. You can also email Patrick directly or send the form on this site. Any of the three is fine.

Tell us what you are seeing and where. A photo helps more than a description. If you still have your scope document, the date of completion is on it.

We come out and look. If it falls under the warranty, we fix it. For an application problem we re-prep and repaint the affected area to match. For a product failure we handle the labor and pursue the material claim with Sherwin-Williams on your behalf.

You are not filing paperwork with a warranty department. You are calling the owner of a small Katy company.

What Happened the One Time We Got a Call

We have had exactly one warranty claim worth telling you about.

It was an exterior job. One back door was in direct sun and was hotter than it should have been when we coated it. Two months later the paint on that door bubbled.

That was our error, not the product's. Heat in the substrate is something we are supposed to check. We went back out, stripped the door, re-prepped it and repainted it. The problem has not returned.

One door on one house is the honest scale of it. Good materials applied properly do not generate many warranty calls. That is the entire reason we are strict about prep and about which products we will stand behind.

Texas Law Already Gives Us a Chance to Fix It

Texas has a statute for this. It is called the Residential Construction Liability Act. A homeowner must give the contractor written notice at least 60 days before filing a construction defect suit. The contractor then has 35 days to request an inspection. He has 60 days to respond with an offer.

We mention it for one reason. The law assumes a reasonable contractor would rather repair the work than litigate, and that is exactly where we stand. You do not need a statute to get us back out there. A phone call does it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the Paint Texas warranty?

One year of workmanship coverage on every painting and drywall project. The year starts on the day the project is completed, not the day you pay.

Is the warranty different for interior and exterior work?

No. Interior and exterior carry the same one year. Commercial and residential are the same as well.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my house?

No. The workmanship warranty stays with the customer we did the work for. The Sherwin-Williams product warranty is also non-transferable.

What if I want to use a cheaper paint than SuperPaint?

You can, and we will still do the work. That surface will not carry a workmanship warranty. We only guarantee Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint and above.

Is a roof leak stain covered?

No. Water coming in from a roof, window or foundation is a different repair. Fix the source first and we can price repainting the damaged area.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Call or text (713) 997-3687, email us, or use the contact form. Send a photo of the area if you can.

Who actually comes out to look at it?

Patrick Montesanto is involved on every project, and that includes warranty visits. You deal with the owner.
